View of London

4 May 2015

I recently acquired a second job title at Chestertons, that of Marketing’s ‘Minister of Fun’. It basically involves organising late afternoon team building activities every 6-8 weeks and is, as the name suggests, lots of fun. With a promise to the team that there would be no assault courses, karaoke or other extreme sport, I gathered a few ideas together and put them to the vote.

For our most recent ‘Fun Friday afternoon/evening’ I booked 8 tickets to the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street (that’s the Walkie-Talkie to you and me). The garden is free, provided you book in advance. When we’d had our fill of admiring the palm trees and Instagramming the view, I took the team on a mini walking tour of the surrounding area.

The tour took in the secret garden of St Dunstan in the East, the church yard of St Magnus the Martyr (and all that remains of the famous medieval London Bridge) and Leadenhall Market. We finished up at The Jamaica Wine House, a lovely Victorian pub tucked away in a maze of ancient alleys off Cornhill. All in all, a very nice afternoon!
